Yes, I think on the early 80's release like Magnum Force, Josey-Wales etc. in stereo, they did additional pan left and right on the M&E and or voices to make them more stereo, but same thing, the music track was stereo, and the effects and voices were probably originaly all centered. It's really interesting that only the Universal releases escaped bad doctoring of the audio tracks.

ADDITION: I think we should at some point experiment and fold down the stereo track and then compare it to the mono from the DVD. There would have to be differences due to the years gap and the difference in gear, as these are brand new restorations, but they should mostly sound the same.

4k masters for the Dirty Harry series plus Where Eagles Dare and Kelly’s Heroes supposedly are now done with Eastwood signing off on them.

Will they have original audio? It’s WB so who knows…

Spent few hrs syncing High Plains Drifter LD to new Kino. Spotted several foley changes.

That's weird. Wouldn't the changes be due to the differences between going back to the stems and the way mono collapses sound?

Wouldn't know to tell you exactly. I downmixed Kino 5.1 to mono and synced to that. Did not really set out to pay attention to differences but did spot one music cue fading out a bit longer, some whip sounds shifted a bit here and there and few sounding distinctly different, few gunshots added to one of shooting drill scenes, hooves sound changed in Clint returning to red Lago scene.

I wonder if the stereo track have this changes. I will check them out next week.

Made a recording last night of Two Mules for Sister Sara Hi-Fi VHS (early 80s copy) and wow is it a big difference compared to the Blu and DVD. The VHS copy has some decent hum during large parts of the movie but the amount of extra detail is shocking. Pretty much all the sound from his stirrups has been removed due to DNR along with lots of other background noise. Unfortunately it's the shorter domestic cut.

Cool, well as the shorter domestic version exists on Blu-ray, syncing it should be a no-brainer!

Unfortuantely, this version seems to be even shorter than the domestic cut kino released and will need some creative editing to sync up.
