Which bluray did you compare it two? There's a bluray with a DTS 2.0 track and another bluray with a DTS-MA 2.0 track.

Mine has lossy DTS stereo, which should be sufficient but the mix has a lot of high frequency roll off. The LD has none of that garbage.
