Hey, guys.
The past two nights, I've been reconstructing the open matte theatrical cut of The Frighteners using mostly the open matte director's cut remastered 1080p Blu-ray from the German UHD+BD pack, and the AMZN/STARZ open matte theatrical cut of the old master. I also used the movie-censorship website as a guide. Some shots, exclusive to the theatrical cut, were taken from the old master, others more complete on the old master were used as well, since the change of masters would stick out mid-shot, plus the framings are different between the two masters. In fact, the old master is often more generous in its openness, but the remaster looks healthier, naturally defined with no edge enhancement. Obviously, I did my best with color correction and cutting back a bit on the edge enhancement of the old master parts I used so that they blend in better. And finally, I had to use the old master for the bright shots in heaven during the climax, because the 1080p SDR remaster is overly bright in the highlights, beyond repair (see examples below). The UHD HDR is fine in those shots but not open matte, so I couldn't use it.

Audiowise, I plan to include the English and German tracks from the UHD+BD pack, plus the English and French tracks from the Universal Blu-ray.
I couldn't find a lead to a Laserdisc or theatrical dts track that was ever synchronized by anyone here. Does anybody have anything relevant to provide in that department?
Subtitlewise, I plan to include the English and German tracks from the UHD+BD pack, plus French subtitles that I will rearrange from the original file.
