[In progress] Jurassic Park 35mm 6.5K scan + 14 trailers
I've heard people say the JP negative was destroyed in the fire but tbh I don't believe it. If the negs of such a high value title were destroyed we would know about it. I think it's just people making excuses for why Universal hasn't done a proper re-master.

I think it's more to do with Spielberg, I think he's simply not that interested in revisiting JP (besides the 3D conversion).

And would he have to be involved? I'd rather never have any director or DP involved in a restoration. We've all seen what happens when they do. Did Universal involve DePalma to make very good remasters for "Scarface" and "Carlito's Way"? Or is it that "Jurassic Park" actually belongs to Amblin, and Universal is just the distributor?

Under DGA rules directors have the right to supervise/approve home video transfers (and even make changes).

Oh, so that's where the tumor of this changes-in-movies cancer was all this time... These a**holes gave themselves mandate to rewrite history.

While my new UHD set hasn't shipped, I think the iTunes/Apple version in DV looks quite remarkable and totally acceptable. I haven't had a chance to project it but I'm waiting for the UHD. After all these years and multiple scanning attempts, and every home video known to us, I'm content with what I saw...as long as I can remux my own audio to get the original mix.

@borisanddoris, your own attempt at regrading the same master already released on UHD looks more genuine anyway.

Yes, I just can't understand it. We're not talking about some underground indy movie, but damn movie history. What a shame! :-(
