Burn DVD with audio tracks.

Not to sound clueless or anything but what would be my best method for finding out the bitrates for the audio tracks?? Keep in mind I'm new bitrates so this pretty much testing ground for me. Another headsup I'm currently in my third attempt at saving the movie. First time it was stalling at 38%. Second 43%. At the time I'm typing this its at 34% and still going. I actually had other applications running during the first two attempts which I don't at the moment so hopefully this will keep going.

Currently it's stalling at 43% again. I guess I could let it run over night and check it tomorrow. Was this by any chance what you meant when you said I may have to use an older version???

An awesome little, free app that tells you the bitrates of all streams in a file, is MediaInfo, which can be downloaded here: http://mediaarea.net/download/binary/med...indows.exe

I do have three more questions about the bitrate calculator. After finding the bit rates for both tracks, do I want to add them together, click Custom on the calculator and then put the added amount? Or should I just click Custom and put the bitrate for one track? Lastly when I get my results do the I wanna put in the bitrate listed in the calculator under maximum, average or minimum when I put my results in Avidemux????

I have a new problem. It wont allow me to open my mpeg file in DVDAuthorGUI. When I click 'add title' and I go to the folder where the video is its not there and when I find the folder manually and try to drag the file it doesnt let me.

Yeah, the "drag n drop" feature doesn't work with this app

As far as you not "seeing" your file when you try to add a title...

When you click on "Add Title" and then navigate to the folder where you have saved your video, if you are not seeing it, there might be a couple reasons. What is the extension of your file? Is it mpg, mpeg, mpv, m1v, m2v, or vob? If this part is missing at the end of your file, it will not "see" it and then all you need to do is add .mpg to the end of the file name.
OR, when you have the "Add Title" window selected where you navigate to your folder, immediately to the right of where it says
file name:
click there and enter
*.*

That command will show you EVERYTHING in the folder and then you should be able to add the file, even if it's missing the extension.

IF, for some reason, it gives you an error when you are trying to add the file, please tell me what it says and we'll take it from there.

I realize that some of this might be frustrating, but don't be discouraged as we ALL had to learn how to do this stuff at some point and some of the process is "trial and error."

Your second suggestion worked. After I added the video I immediately got a popup asking for an audio stream so I chose the first demuxed track. I used the 'add additional audio stream' option for the second track. Ok so far??

After checking the footage its still pretty low. It's actually lower than what I ended up with ConvertX. I think I'll try the 'two-pass'.

What was the final filesize you ended up with?

The bitrate calculator is an approximation and I have had to bump up the bitrate by a little bit before to fully fill out an DVD5 or DVD9.

And as far as the quality... Yeah, that's why I wrote in the beginning, that with some footage the "two-pass - average bitrate" option will give better results, but NOT always.

Also, if you are aiming for DVD5, then having two audio streams at 1509kbps is really not leaving you much room for video, hence the low quality and then it doesn't matter what method/software/etc you use as the result will always be about the same
